What to know before you go: Allianz Field

Minnesota United’s season is in full swing, and at 4th place in the Western Conference they are doing pretty dang good – especially for being so new to the scene. The brand new $250 million stadium, is now one of the Twin Cities best places to catch a game, and without a bad seat in the house, I can pretty much guarantee you’ll have a blast.
If you have never been to the stadium before or need a refresher, there are a few things that you need should know before walking into the stadium:
Some players to keep an eye on are Darwin Quintero, forward who is currently in the lead for the goals scored as well as shots taken, and Vito Mannone, goalie with 60 saves to his name.
Don’t worry about stashing snacks in your bag for that mid-game hunger, because this stadium is loaded with good food (including churros, pizza & beer - yum!)
Parking will most likely cost you anywhere between $10-25 depending on the game. The best spot to tailgate and catch a shuttle is in the State Fairgrounds. You can purchase tickets here. Otherwise, if you are able, I would suggest taking the Green Line light-rail train in, it’s a lot simpler and drops you off outside the stadium.
Don’t be that person who makes it to security only to realize you can’t bring your purse in. Make sure your tote bag is completely clear or put your stuff in a Ziploc gallon bag. Better yet, consolidate your belongings into a small clutch purse and boom - easy peasy, you’re in!
What to do for the day:
If you are coming from out of town for a game and want to enjoy the beautiful Cities (which you totally should) there are a couple places to hang out near the stadium.
- If you are looking to grab a beer beforehand, Surly Brewing Co. is just 9 min away and a great spot to enjoy some outdoor games & a juicy burger.
- For those who are coming to the game with your family, Como Zoo is a perfect spot to burn some energy before a game (especially since it is free!).
- If Italian is what you are craving, head to Cossetta’s in St. Paul, arguably one of the more iconic local favorites. Their pasta is oh so good!
