Remember the days when we were soaking up the sun with tubes behind the boat & coolers nearby? Honestly it’s those thoughts that keep me sane amidst this chilly winter season. If you are like me, with your warmer thoughts flooding your mind, you need to attend the Progressive Insurance Minneapolis Boat Show. This weekend long event, from January 24-27 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, is one of the best winter activities in the city.
What is it?
The Minneapolis Boat Show is the best way to learn about all things boating. Vendors showcase the newest innovations in water sport, cruising and boating equipment. Several vendors will be offering special deals as a part of their winter sale… it’s never too late for a Christmas present, right?! The Boat Show is meant to be a day of fun for the family, so expect a variety of events that everyone will enjoy.
Boat enthusiasts can try out the Boating Skills Virtual Trainer to practice your docking, pivot turns and overall boating skills. The simulation is incredibly realistic with a real throttle and wheel - technology, ha!
Along with the virtual training, there will also be a chance for you to take a virtual vintage boat ride.
From Thursday - Saturday, there will be live music from 4 pm - 8 pm at the Island Experience area. This is a great space to kick back and let your mind cruise into warmer days!
For those with young kiddos, there is a “Discover-A-Boat” activity for kids to wander the show floor to complete their navigation map, finding recreational boats. The search begins at Twin Cities Beach Blast in Lobby E.
It’s nice to note that children get in for free, so that means this is a cheap family outing for everyone. As for the rest of us, who are somewhere across the line of 13 years old, it’s only $14. However, I did manage to score a great offer for my readers! Use discount code BOATGO for "Buy One Get One Free" ticket offer, good only for online tickets. Hurry when buying these because the code is only good through January 24, 2019.
So, step aboard one of the many boats at the show to get a feel for where you could be spending several hours laying out while cruising Lake Minnetonka. Be sure to use #mplsboatshow and #liveandlovemn when there so we can see your photos!
